DwellOrDrive is an independently operated website based in East Palo Alto, California, United States. In this policy, “DwellOrDrive,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of dwellordrive.com. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you visit the website or use its housing-versus-commute calculator.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the DwellOrDrive website and calculator. It does not apply to third-party websites, services, advertisements, or links that may be available through the site.
2. Calculator inputs
Calculator values are processed in your browser. DwellOrDrive does not intentionally transmit to or store on its servers the rent, housing, salary, distance, travel-time, fuel, vehicle, toll, parking, transit, or other scenario values you enter into the calculator.
Avoid entering confidential, identifying, or sensitive information. The calculator is designed for general numeric assumptions, not names, street addresses, account numbers, or other personal identifiers.
3. Information collected automatically
The hosting and security infrastructure may automatically process ordinary technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser and device type, requested pages, referring page, timestamps, and security or diagnostic logs. DwellOrDrive is currently hosted by Vercel, which may process this information as a service provider under its own terms and privacy policy.
4. Information you send to us
If you email DwellOrDrive, the message may include your email address, message content, and any information you choose to provide. That information is used to respond, investigate site problems, maintain appropriate records, and protect the service.
5. Cookies, analytics, and advertising
As of the effective date above, DwellOrDrive does not intentionally use nonessential analytics, behavioral advertising, or affiliate-tracking scripts in the public application. The site may use essential technical measures needed for hosting, security, fraud prevention, and content delivery.
Before or when analytics, display advertising, affiliate measurement, or other tracking technology becomes active, this policy will be updated to describe the applicable practices, vendors, and choices. Where legally required, an appropriate consent or opt-out mechanism will also be provided.
6. How information is used
DwellOrDrive may use information described in this policy to:
- operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website;
- respond to messages, accessibility feedback, and privacy requests;
- detect abuse, fraud, security incidents, or unlawful activity;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce the Terms of Use; and
- evaluate site reliability using aggregated or deidentified information.
7. How information may be disclosed
DwellOrDrive may disclose information:
- to hosting, security, email-forwarding, infrastructure, and professional-service providers that support the site;
- when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
- to protect the rights, safety, security, or property of DwellOrDrive, its users, or others; or
- in connection with a merger, financing, sale, reorganization, or transfer of all or part of the project, subject to applicable law.
DwellOrDrive does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. Retention
Calculator inputs are not intentionally retained by DwellOrDrive. Email messages and related records may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or comply with law. Technical and security logs are retained according to operational needs and the practices of applicable service providers.
9. Your choices and requests
You may ask DwellOrDrive to provide, correct, or delete personal information that you directly submitted by email. Because the site does not provide user accounts and does not intentionally retain calculator inputs, DwellOrDrive may have little or no information that can be linked back to you.
To make a request, email privacy@dwellordrive.com. DwellOrDrive may take reasonable steps to verify the request before responding. These voluntary request procedures do not concede that any particular privacy statute applies to DwellOrDrive.
10. Browser privacy signals
Because DwellOrDrive does not currently sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use an active targeted advertising system, Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals do not presently change the site's behavior. This section will be updated if those practices change.
Other parties are not currently permitted by DwellOrDrive to collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across different websites through the public application.
11. Children's privacy
DwellOrDrive is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. DwellOrDrive does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact DwellOrDrive so the matter can be reviewed.
12. Security
DwellOrDrive uses reasonable administrative and technical measures suited to the current service. No website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure, and DwellOrDrive cannot promise absolute security.
13. Third-party services and links
Third-party sites and services have their own privacy practices. DwellOrDrive is not responsible for how those third parties collect, use, disclose, or protect information. Review their policies before providing information to them.
14. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the website, vendors, or legal obligations change. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes may also be highlighted on the site when appropriate. DwellOrDrive will not apply materially more permissive data practices retroactively where doing so would be unlawful or deceptive.
